Contribution to be granted to the United Nation High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR)

Press Release, Colombo, September 7th, 2006.

The Embassy of the Royal Kingdom of the Netherlands in Colombo announces a contribution of one million Euro to be granted by the Government of the Netherlands to the United Nation High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).

The funding is provided within the framework of the UN Common Humanitarian Appeal in response to the increased problems faced by Internally Displaced People (IDP's) due to increased hostilities between Sri Lankan Military and LTTE in the North Eastern part in Sri Lanka.

The Netherlands Embassy calls upon all parties in the conflict to co-operate to the fullest with the relevant UN agencies in their efforts to bring relief to those who are in need.
