The Dutch Business Community engaged in business activities with Sri Lanka has revived The Netherlands- Sri Lanka Business Council which was established in 2000. Mr. Bernard Menken, Managing Director of Menken Maritiem B.V., and Mr. Tons Hens, Managing Director of Asian Explorers and former Director Sri Lankan Airlines for Benelux countries, have taken the initiative of the revival. The Council is functioning under the Patronage of the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in The Netherlands, Mrs. Pamela J. Deen. The Council’s main objective is to stimulate trade and investments between the two countries.

The Netherlands has economic ties with Sri Lanka since 400 years. During the last three years Trade between Sri Lanka and The Netherlands has increased tremendously as well as tourist arrivals from The Netherlands to Sri Lanka. Investment in Sri Lanka continues to increase.

On the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of Independence of Sri Lanka, Ambassador Pamela J. Deen invites Dutch entrepreneurs involved with or interested in Sri Lanka to join the Council.
