To inform the Dutch government and business community the Netherlands Embassy keeps up with the Sri Lanka macro economic and trade policy. The embassy is primarily focussed on providing services to Dutch companies and to promote economic relations between the Netherlands and Sri Lanka. The Economic and Trade department of the embassy is responsible for the promotion of Dutch exports and investments in Sri Lanka. The Economic Department also reports regularly on developments in the Sri Lanka economy in all its aspects. The recipients of this information are mainly the Netherlands Ministries of Economic Affairs, and Foreign Affairs, as well as the Agency for International business and Co-operation, EVD. Furthermore we try to publish on the web site as much information as possible on market data, market reviews and reports, government and regulations and main sectors of industry and business information.
The Netherlands Embassy organises promotional activities within the framework of trade and investments. The department will provide Dutch companies and individuals interested in doing business with Sri Lanka or investing in Sri Lanka with relevant information with regard to export and investment possibilities. Furthermore the department answers trade requests and gives trade information. In this respect the economic department provides only first aid information within the framework of doing business in Sri Lanka. The department can provide general information on establishing a business in Sri Lanka and can additionally give information on organisations that are able to assist. Direct assistance for the establishing of companies cannot be provided by the embassy.

One-Stop shop for information on developing your business in emerging markets.
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a database “Developing your Business” aiming at stimulating business with and in emerging markets, including many developing countries. Companies can access the database on the internet to find answers to questions about doing business in emerging markets. The database contains information about grants, import and export support, investment, research, networks, training courses and relevant websites.
Improving the business climate in developing countries is a high priority for the Dutch Minister for Development Cooperation, Agnes van Ardenne, Economic growth creates new jobs and helps to combat poverty. Dutch companies that set up activities with foreign partners in emerging markets may qualify for grants under various programmes, such as PSOM (Programme for Cooperation with Emerging Markets) and ORET (Development related Export Transactions programme). The new databas provides detailed information about these grant programmes.
An extensive Englis-language version of the database is available at
www.evd.nl/DyB. it provides information about the opportunities in each country for the international and local business community. The search engine recognises country names and key wordss. The database is available for free use of charge. It is managed by the EVD, the Netherlands Foreign Trade agency.
